Karen Dawn hosted animal issue talk shows on KPFT, the Houston Pacifica station, in 2003, and moved to KPFK on the Los Angeles and Southern California airwaves in 2004.

She has worked as a researcher and writer for various Australian publications and on ABC's nightly news magazine, "The 7:30 Report."

From 2001-2004 Dawn served on the voting committee for the HSUS Genesis Awards, which honor members of the major media who shine the spotlight on animal cruelty. She returned as the print consulted in 2006. 

Her opinion pieces have appeared in The Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, New York's Newsday and UK's The Guardian. She is a contributor to "In Defense of Animals: The Second Wave," an anthology edited by Peter Singer, and to 'Terrorists or Freedom Fighters: Reflections on the Liberation of Animals" edited by Steve Best and Anthony Nocella. In early 2008 Harper Collins will publish her first book, "Everything you Wanted to Know About Animal Rights but were Afraid to Get into A Fight About."

As a spokesperson for the animal protection movement, Karen Dawn has appeared on MTV, has been featured in the New York Times and she has lectured at national animal rights conferences since 2001.   DawnWatch.com, Karen Dawn's media monitoring service, helps animal advocates encourage animal friendly coverage.
